Coco Gauff, Djokovic, and Medvedev Shine on Day Three of French Open

PARIS, France — Day three of the French Open has kicked off with thrilling matches as top seeds compete at Roland Garros. American Coco Gauff, seeded No. 2, is facing Olivia Gadecki from Australia in her first-round match on Court Philippe-Chatrier. Gauff’s match started after a slight delay due to her realizing she forgot her rackets, but they were soon delivered, allowing the match to proceed.
Also in action, Mirra Andreeva, the sixth seed, had an early victory against Cristina Bucsa, winning in straight sets on Court Suzanne-Lenglen. Andreeva, known for her impressive run last year, showed resilience despite stumbles early in the match.
The American Sofia Kenin followed with her match against France’s Varvara Gracheva, where she triumphed comfortably in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. Kenin expressed her excitement about the win and her plans to explore Paris during the tournament, saying, “I definitely love it here… So I’m definitely going to walk around.”
On another exciting court, American Learner Tien, a 19-year-old debutant, is taking on the formidable Alexander Zverev. Tien previously defeated Zverev in their matchup at the Mexican Open, and many are curious to see if he can recreate that success on the clay surface.
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev, seeded 11th, is competing against Cameron Norrie on Court Simonne-Mathieu, currently struggling after a close first set. Medvedev lost the first set 5-7 but is looking to recover as the second set begins.
The crowd is also watching the return of Victoria Azarenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, who earlier dispatched Yanina Wickmayer with a decisive score of 6-0, 6-0, marking a strong start to her campaign.
As weather conditions are moderate today, with a chance of rain later, many matches are expected to draw large crowds. The excitement continues to build as the tournament progresses, with fans eager to see if Gauff can surpass her past achievements and if Djokovic can claim his 25th Grand Slam title.
