Luis Suárez And Lionel Messi Soccer Team Launch

MONTEVIDEO, UruguayLuis Suárez and Lionel Messi have joined forces off the pitch as business partners. On Tuesday, Suárez announced the formation of a new professional soccer team in his native Uruguay, called LSM, previously known as Deportivo LS.

The rebranded team aims to compete in Uruguay’s fourth division, marking a significant step in Suárez’s vision to promote soccer at the grassroots level. ‘Deportivo LS is a family dream that began in 2018,’ Suárez said in a video posted to social media. ‘We have grown a lot with more than 3,000 members.’

Suárez, who retired from international soccer last September, expressed his desire to provide opportunities and tools for young athletes in Uruguay. He noted how important the nation and its soccer culture are to him. In a rare appearance together, Messi joined Suárez in the announcement video, expressing his enthusiasm. ‘I’m proud and happy that you chose me, so I hope to contribute everything I can to continue growing and, above all, to be by your side in this,’ Messi said.

While specific details about Messi’s role in the new venture remain uncertain, local media reports suggest he will be a partner in the project. Additionally, Álvaro Recoba, a former player for the Uruguayan national team and Inter Milan, is expected to coach the team.

The announcement coincided with the launch of the club’s Instagram account, which garnered over 40,000 followers within just two hours after its creation. Suárez and his family previously established a 20-acre sports complex in 2018 located in Ciudad de la Costa, near Montevideo, featuring multiple activities for more than 3,000 members.
