Orlando, Florida (AP) — Tijjani Reijnders has praised his inclusion in Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup squad as an ideal opportunity to integrate into Pep Guardiola‘s team. The Dutch midfielder joined City early in June, part of a series of signings that includes Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Marcus Bettenelli.

Reijnders, 26, made a strong impression during his competitive debut last week, contributing to City’s 2-0 victory over Morocco’s Wydad AC in the opening Group G match of the tournament. As City prepares for a crucial clash against Juventus at Camping World Stadium on Thursday, Reijnders expressed confidence in his squad.

A win against Juventus would secure City’s place as group leaders, while a draw or loss could see them progress as runners-up. “Being together with my teammates every day here in America has really helped me blend in with the squad,” said Reijnders. “I’ve received a warm welcome, which makes this process easier.”

“We want to finish strongly in the group stages. Winning is our goal for tomorrow,” he added. “We expect a lot from ourselves, and we want to showcase that in the upcoming games.” Reijnders noted the importance of continuity in the group, highlighting how the team’s dynamics improve with consistent collaboration and shared experience.

City’s performance thus far in the tournament has been commendable, winning both matches played. However, Reijnders anticipates further development as the tournament progresses. “We know we can give more, and it’s up to us, especially in the game against Juventus,” he emphasized. “They’re a bigger team, but we must show our qualities and grow as a team throughout this tournament.”
