Galatasaray Kicks Off Süper Lig Season Against Gaziantep FK

Gaziantep, Turkey – The Trendyol Süper Lig is set to launch its 68th season tomorrow with a highly anticipated match between Gaziantep FK and Galatasaray at Gaziantep Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 PM local time.
Last season’s champion, Galatasaray, will look to extend their winning streak and secure their 26th title. The team, managed by Okan Buruk, aims to start the new season strong after an unbeaten preseason, which included victories against Ümraniyespor, Admira Wacker, and Strasbourg.
Galatasaray will face some challenges as key players Mauro Icardi, Victor Osimhen, and Derrick Köhn are absent from the squad. Additionally, defenders Victor Nelsson and Carlos Cuesta will also not participate due to issues with their licenses. The absence of these players raises questions as to who will lead the attack for the team.
However, all eyes will be on new signing Leroy Sané, who may make his official debut for the club after a successful season with Bayern Munich, where he scored 11 goals in the Bundesliga.
On the other side, Gaziantep FK enters this matchup under new head coach İsmet Taşdemir, looking for a fresh start after finishing 14th last season. They hope to start the new campaign positively by capitalizing on their home field advantage.
Historically, Galatasaray has dominated the head-to-head clashes with Gaziantep FK, winning 11 out of 13 encounters, with only one draw and one win for Gaziantep. This match not only signifies the beginning of another exciting season but also serves as a platform for both teams to set the tone for their respective campaigns.
The match officials for the contest include referee Ali Şansalan, assisted by Bersan Duran and Samet Çiçek, with Gürcan Hasova as the fourth official and Sarper Barış Saka serving as the VAR official.
