SEOUL, South Korea — Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, a prominent jungler for Hanwha Life Esports, announced Friday that he will soon retire from the competitive League of Legends scene. As the team prepares for the LCK Grand Final, Peanut confirmed his departure from professional play due to mandatory military service.

Peanut, who has been a key player for Hanwha Life, clarified that he has been postponing his military obligations but must begin service in 2026. This decision has left many fans disheartened as it marks what will be Peanut’s final tournament within the League of Legends community.

“It is difficult to leave the game and my teammates, but I must fulfill my responsibilities,” Peanut stated during a press conference. He expressed gratitude to his fans and teammates who supported him throughout his career.

Since joining SKT T1 in 2016, Peanut has become a household name in esports. His talents helped the team achieve victory at the Mid-Season Invitational and the 2017 Spring Split. He has also played for other teams like Gen. G, LGD Gaming, and Kingzone DragonX.

In 2018, Peanut represented South Korea at the Asian Games alongside renowned player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, although their team did not secure a victory against China. His latest stint at Hanwha Life Esports began in 2024, contributing to the team’s success in winning the LCK Summer Split.

While 2025 has presented challenges for the team, they managed to qualify for Worlds 2025, offering fans one last chance to witness Peanut in action before he steps away from the game. The esports community looks forward to his final performance in the upcoming tournament.
