India Advances to Asia Cup Final After Defeating Bangladesh by 41 Runs
Dubai, UAE — India secured a spot in the final of the Men’s T20 Asia Cup by defeating Bangladesh by 41 runs on September 24, 2025.
India posted a total of 168 runs, with standout performances from Abhishek Sharma, who scored 75 runs off 37 balls, and Hardik Pandya, who contributed 38 runs. Bangladesh, chasing a target of 169, managed to score only 127 runs before being bowled out in 19.3 overs.
The match began with India struggling early, managing just 7 runs in the first two overs before Abhishek set the pace, hitting five sixes and eight fours throughout his innings. His explosive batting helped India to a total of 95 runs in the overs 3 to 11, while the team faced difficulties later, scoring just 73 runs in the following 12 overs.
Bangladesh’s chase faltered from the beginning, with the team unable to establish momentum against India’s varied bowling attack. Saif Hassan was the top performer for Bangladesh, scoring 69 runs. However, India’s bowlers, particularly Kuldeep Yadav with 3 wickets for 18 runs and Jasprit Bumrah with 2 wickets for 18 runs, kept Bangladesh under pressure.
Despite some promising starts, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals, with crucial moments including a missed catch of Abhishek early in his innings. This miss proved pivotal, as Abhishek capitalized to crush any hopes of a successful chase.
India’s victory means they will face either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the finals, as Sri Lanka is now out of contention. The final match is set for later this week, and India appears determined to clinch the title.
“We showed our strength today, and I am proud of how we handled the pressure,” said Indian captain after the match. “We will stay focused as we prepare for the finals.”
