Shanghai, ChinaFelix Auger-Aliassime won his match in straight sets on Monday, defeating Dutch player Jelle de Jong at the ATP Masters 1000 event. The Canadian, currently ranked 13th in the PIF ATP Rankings, clinched the match 6-4, 7-5.

In a dramatic moment during the second set, Auger-Aliassime slipped while returning a drop shot and fell to the court. A ball kid rushed in to assist, helping him back to his feet, which drew cheers from the crowd. Reflecting on the match, Auger-Aliassime said, “Every point counts, and I am glad I managed to finish it strong.”

Auger-Aliassime’s victory marks his 10th win in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin. He aims to qualify for the ATP Finals, set to take place from November 9 to 16, 2025. Currently, he holds a 36-19 record for the season and married his long-time partner, Nina, last month.

Meanwhile, Australian Alex de Minaur also performed impressively, defeating Kamil Majchrzak 6-1, 7-5 in humid conditions. De Minaur, the seventh seed, has yet to drop a set in the tournament.

“Surviving is key in these conditions,” De Minaur noted. “I’m glad I was able to get the break back in the second set.” He is currently seventh in the ATP Live Race and on track to qualify for the finals for the second consecutive year.

De Minaur will face Portuguese player Nuno Borges in the fourth round while Auger-Aliassime awaits his next opponent. With both players showcasing strong performances, the Shanghai tournament continues to heighten the excitement ahead of the ATP Finals.
