DETROIT, Michigan – October 7, 2025 – The Seattle Mariners edged closer to the American League Championship Series by defeating the Detroit Tigers 8-4 in Game 3 of the AL Division Series, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

Cal Raleigh had a standout game, hitting a two-run home run and driving in three runs. The Mariners, now one win away from advancing, will have the chance to close out the series in Game 4, set for Wednesday at Comerica Park.

Despite a late-game rally from the Tigers, Seattle held onto its lead. Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena were instrumental in the win, combining for key hits that helped the Mariners maintain their advantage.

The action heated up in the fifth inning when Spencer Torkelson‘s single gave the Tigers their first hit against Seattle’s Bryce Miller. A series of timely hits, including a two-run double by Dillon Dingler, allowed Detroit to tie the game at 3-3. However, Miller managed to escape further trouble by inducing a groundout.

In the bottom of the fifth, Arozarena singled, advancing to second on a wild pitch, setting the stage for Raleigh’s hit that scored Arozarena, putting Seattle ahead once again. The Mariners showcased strong hitting up and down the lineup, with contributions from several players.

As the game progressed, the Mariners capitalized on defensive errors by the Tigers to extend their lead. A costly misplay in the seventh allowed Seattle to add more runs, further solidifying their position.

Tomorrow’s Game 4 will see Milwaukee’s Logan Gilbert on the mound for the Mariners against the Tigers’ Casey Mize. The urgency increases for Detroit as they aim to avoid elimination on their home field.

With Game 4 looming, both teams are adjusting their lineups: Seattle will rely on Gilbert’s strong pitching, while the Tigers need to regroup after a tough Game 3.

The Mariners last reached the ALCS in 2001 and are eager to break that drought. A win in Game 4 would secure their place in the next round.
