Giants Eyeing Key Trades Ahead of NFL Deadline as Season Progresses
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — As the NFL trade deadline approaches on Nov. 4, the New York Giants are considering potential trades to bolster their roster. Currently sitting at 2-4, the team is evaluating its options, especially after losing top receiver Malik Nabers to a season-ending injury.
Giants General Manager Joe Schoen has been noted for exercising caution in the past, but the current circumstances might push him to make a move. During the 2022 trade deadline, he chose to prioritize the future over short-term gains, but with a promising rookie quarterback in Jaxson Dart, the team might need to shift that strategy this year.
As the Giants analyze receiver options, executives from other teams believe they might pursue players like Jakobi Meyers of the Las Vegas Raiders, Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints, or Jaylen Waddle of the Miami Dolphins. Each of these players could provide a much-needed boost to their struggling offense.
A source within the league stated, “The Giants want to ensure promise this season. Dart’s development is critical, and adding a viable receiver could enhance his growth.”
However, there are challenges involved. The Giants currently lack sufficient draft capital for a significant trade, having already traded their 2026 third-round pick. The team must navigate its roster and salary cap issues carefully, especially if they aim to add a player who could contribute beyond this season.
Meyers, in particular, could be appealing as he is a reliable option without as many complications as other potential targets. He has the attributes to work well with the Giants’ system, provided they can address his contract demands if a trade is made.
As the clock ticks down to the deadline, the Giants must decide whether to add players for immediate impact or hold their cards until the next season. The loss of Nabers leaves a gaping hole, and the prospect of trading away lesser contributors might further reshape their roster.
With two wins against big opponents under Dart’s leadership, the urgency for the Giants to make a move is palpable. Schoen’s next step could determine if they remain in contention or if they settle for a rebuilding phase.
