Boston Celtics Preseason Game

BOSTON, MA – The Boston Celtics will close out their preseason with a game against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night at TD Garden. The matchup, set to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET, marks the team’s last opportunity to finalize their rotation before the regular season begins.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla has expressed skepticism about the value of preseason games, preferring to evaluate players during practice at the Auerbach Center. However, these games do provide a crucial chance to assess newcomers and veterans alike.

This preseason, several players have the opportunity to make a lasting impression. For instance, Neemias Queta has had limited playing time, totaling just 25 minutes in two appearances. Mazzulla and the coaching staff will be looking for Queta to showcase his defensive skills and rebounding, especially given the Celtics’ revamped frontcourt following a roster shake-up.

Other players to watch include newcomers Chris Boucher and Luka Garza, who have performed well during their preseason minutes. As Queta seeks consistency, he must also prove that he can adapt to the differences between preseason and the high-level competition he faced in international play.

Meanwhile, Juwan Walsh, recovering from an adductor injury, aims to return to the court after logging only eight minutes this preseason. After an impressive training camp last year, Walsh is eager to earn more playing time amidst the competitive roster.

On the wing, Ryan Scheierman, despite a shaky preseason, continues to fight for a spot. He has made just 22.2 percent of his shots but leads the team in assists and steals, indicating a need for improved shooting efficiency as he seeks to carve out his role.

Lastly, rookie Oumar Gonzalez also seeks to demonstrate his defensive assets while solidifying his trust with Mazzulla. The coach highlighted the importance of Gonzalez finding his rhythm during games as he develops his game in a competitive environment.

The Celtics hope to turn their previous struggles against the Raptors around after a disappointing loss earlier in the preseason. With all eyes on the key players, fans will be eager to see how this young team performs in their final exhibition before the regular season starts.
