Julián Álvarez Atlético Madrid Striker

Madrid, Spain – Julián Álvarez has emerged as a key player for Atlético Madrid after leaving Manchester City two summers ago. The 25-year-old striker has scored 36 goals and provided 11 assists in 65 appearances since joining the Spanish club.

Following Álvarez’s recent successes, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola commented on the forward’s impressive performance. “Julián Álvarez is a ‘crack.’ That’s why he’s at one of the best clubs in the world, Atleti, playing with top-notch players and performing incredibly,” Guardiola said in a press conference. He added, “I would love to have him back, but I understand why he left.”

The Argentine international was voted the best player of September by Atlético Madrid fans, scoring six goals in three consecutive wins. “I’m very happy. In this last match, we achieved a good streak of victories and solid play, and we want to continue down this path,” Álvarez explained after receiving the ‘Five Star Player’ award, given to the team’s top player each month.

In his last three matches, Álvarez scored three goals in a 3-2 win against Rayo Vallecano, two goals in a 5-2 victory over Real Madrid, and one in a 5-1 triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt, while also contributing two assists to his teammates.

Even in a brief time in Europe, Álvarez has made a significant impact, establishing himself as a major figure at Atlético Madrid. His pivotal role at Manchester City was notable, especially during the season when the team claimed numerous titles, despite competing for a spot with Erling Haaland.

Aware that Guardiola favored Haaland as his starting striker, Álvarez made the decision to move to Atlético Madrid, where coach Diego Simeone welcomed him as a vital addition to the team. Guardiola’s nostalgia for Álvarez was evident in his recent remarks, acknowledging the striker’s ability and impact.

After experiencing a title-less season, Julián Álvarez is eager to turn the tide for Atlético Madrid. He is currently among the top scorers in La Liga after the first eight rounds of the season.
