Seahawks Soar to First Place Without Playing
SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Seahawks climbed to first place in the NFC West without stepping onto the field during Week 8. As October nears its end, the division witnessed a three-way tie among the Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, and Los Angeles Rams, all boasting a 5-2 record.
The 49ers initially held the top spot due to their unblemished 3-0 record against division rivals. However, their 26-15 loss to the Houston Texans pushed their record to 5-3, allowing Seattle to seize the division lead.
Despite the Rams also having a bye week and their loss to the 49ers earlier this season, the Seahawks now benefit from a tiebreaker stemming from their Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals. With both the Rams and Cardinals off in Week 8, Seattle is guaranteed to maintain its lead at least for this week.
Week 9 presents a new challenge for the Seahawks as they are set to play against the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Rams will face the New Orleans Saints in a late game. The outcome of these matches could shift the standings once again.
The anticipation builds as fans hope for another strong performance from Seattle against Washington.
