Clásico Antioqueño: Nacional vs. Medellín Set for October 26
MEDELLÍN, Colombia – The much-anticipated clásica antioqueña between Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín will take place on Sunday, October 26, at the Atanasio Girardot Stadium. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 PM and will be broadcast live on WIN.
This year’s matchup is particularly notable, as it comes during the 17th round of league play. Atlético Nacional, currently sitting fourth in the standings with 28 points, looks to maintain their five-match unbeaten streak, while Medellín is aiming to solidify their position at the top with 31 points.
Unfortunately for Nacional, they will be without key players Brayan León, Léider Berrío, and Léyser Chaverra, all sidelined due to suspension from accumulated yellow cards. However, the Dimayor has cleared leading scorer Alfredo Morelos to play in the critical encounter.
“We are going into the clásico with hope and determination to reflect what the fans expect from us on the field,” said Nacional’s head coach, Diego Arias. His team remains optimistic, having won five of their eight home games this season.
In contrast, Independiente Medellín boasts the leading striker in the tournament, an Argentine who has scored nine goals in 14 matches. The team is undefeated in their recent clásico encounters, with an impressive history against Nacional, including a 3-3 draw on September 7, 2025.
The matchup promises to be closely contested as both teams strive for vital points in the league standings.
