Anthony Edwards Minnesota Timberwolves Injury

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota – Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is expected to miss at least two weeks due to a right hamstring strain he suffered during the first quarter of a game against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, October 26.

Edwards played just three minutes before leaving the game after taking hard contact while attempting a layup. The team announced he would not return shortly after, initially labeling the issue as hamstring tightness.

An MRI conducted on Monday revealed the extent of the strain. Coach Chris Finch confirmed that Edwards will be reassessed in one week, but sources suggest he may need additional time to recover.

<p"Of course we're going to miss him. His ability to take over a game is crucial for us," Finch said. "We have a deep team, and this is when that depth will help us."

In Edwards’ absence, veteran guard Bones Hyland stepped into the lineup for Monday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets. Finch noted that the team needs to approach the situation by committee, rather than relying on one player to fill Edwards’ shoes.

Edwards, a three-time All-Star, has had a strong start to the season, averaging 25.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. His injury is a significant setback for Minnesota, which aims to build on its early success after a narrow 114-110 victory against the Pacers.

As Edwards continues his recovery, the Timberwolves are expected to adapt their offensive strategies, including potential changes to the lineup. Julius Randle may play a larger role in the offense as the team seeks to maintain momentum in the upcoming games.

The Timberwolves face the Nuggets on Monday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, where both LeBron James and Luka Doncic are expected to be absent. Fans remain hopeful for a quick recovery as Edwards aims to contribute once again.
