Logan Cooley Signs $80 Million Extension with Utah Mammoth
SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Mammoth center Logan Cooley agreed to an eight-year contract extension worth $80 million, keeping one of the team’s brightest stars in Utah through 2034. The contract, which has an average annual value of $10 million, was announced on Wednesday.
Cooley, 21, is currently leading the Mammoth with eight goals and 12 points in the 2025-26 season. He has achieved a four-game point streak, including six goals and three assists. Notably, he set a record as the first player in NHL history to score each of his first eight goals of the season in the first period.
“Choosing to play with this group of teammates was the easiest part of this decision, and living in Utah has been amazing since day one,” said Cooley. “The atmosphere at the Delta Center in front of our fans is unreal. We have an opportunity to do something special here thanks to the incredible people in the organization.”
Cooley’s new contract kicks in after he finishes the final year of his entry-level deal in the 2025-26 season. With this extension, he will have the highest average annual value among current Mammoth players starting next season.
During the previous season, Cooley scored 25 goals and added 40 assists. Overall, he has accumulated 53 goals and 68 assists over 168 NHL games played with Utah and Arizona, which initially drafted him third overall in 2022.
“Logan is elite in every sense of the word,” said Mammoth governor Ryan Smith. “He’s one of the most exciting young players in the league. Choosing to commit to Utah signifies what we’re building here.”
The Mammoth will face the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Delta Center on Sunday, November 2, after their recent 6-3 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
