RENO, Nev. — The Nevada men’s basketball team is set to open its season against Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night at the Lawlor Events Center. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. PST.

This matchup features both teams looking to establish their footing early in the 2025-26 season. Nevada enters the game hoping to bounce back from last year’s disappointing finish. The Wolf Pack ended the season with a record of 17-16, placing seventh in the Mountain West Conference.

Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech is looking to build on a successful 2024-25 season where it ended with a 20-12 record. The Bulldogs are under the guidance of fourth-year head coach Talvin Hester, who has revamped his roster with 10 newcomers.

For Nevada, the focus will be on turning defense into offense. Coach Steve Alford has emphasized the need for improved ball security, with the team striving to increase turnovers in their favor. In exhibition games against Utah and Eastern Washington, the Wolf Pack managed to force 41 turnovers combined.

The Bulldogs, featuring their top returner Kaden Cooper, will need to adapt quickly with numerous fresh faces. Cooper, a former top-75 national recruit and a major contributor last season, averaged 9.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. His performance will be crucial for Louisiana Tech’s chances of success.

Tonight’s matchup will be broadcast on the MW Network. As a new season begins, both teams are eager to prove their mettle and set the stage for what’s to come in the competitive season ahead.
