Thunder’s Cason Wallace Shines as Team Remains Undefeated
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their perfect start to the season, defeating the Washington Wizards 127-108 on October 30, 2025. Cason Wallace proved crucial in the absence of injured stars Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren, putting up 12 points, alongside four steals and two blocks.
Wallace, a 2023 lottery pick, displayed his defensive prowess, leading the NBA with a league-high of 3 steals per game. This season has seen him step into a more significant role, especially with Williams recovering from wrist surgery. Wallace’s defensive capabilities have helped the Thunder maintain a strong start, pushing their record to 7-0.
In the game against the Wizards, he excelled both offensively and defensively. Aside from scoring, Wallace contributed with three assists and grabbed four rebounds. His defensive efforts played a pivotal role in forcing 22 turnovers from Washington, showcasing Oklahoma City’s trademark hustle.
“Defensively, I’m just trying to be disruptive, trying to give a spark,” Wallace stated during a post-game press conference. After a closely contested first half, the Thunder dominated the second half, thanks to Wallace’s defensive stops and quick reactions.
Besides Wallace, Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team in scoring with 31 points. Isaiah Joe and Ajay Mitchell added depth, each scoring 20 points. Despite missing key players, the Thunder have effectively utilized their depth, showing resilience that has characterized their start.
Wallace has averaged 8.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.6 steals through the first five games this season, demonstrating his potential as a crucial role player. His all-around performance is gaining attention as he looks to make the All-Defensive team alongside his teammates.
The Thunder will seek to extend their winning streak as they next face the New Orleans Pelicans on November 2 at Paycom Center.
