James Harden Nba Scoring Title 2020

HOUSTON, Texas — James Harden delivered an unforgettable performance during the 2019-20 NBA season, showcasing his scoring prowess despite a pandemic-shortened schedule. In a remarkable campaign, Harden led the league with an average of 34.3 points per game while playing for the Houston Rockets.

Harden’s standout moment came on November 30, 2019, when he scored 60 points in a dominating 158-111 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. This game remains one of the highlights of his career, featuring an impressive shooting line of 16-for-24 from the field, 8-for-14 from three-point range, and 20-for-23 from the free-throw line. Along with his scoring, he contributed eight assists, three rebounds, three steals, and one block in just 31 minutes of play.

The 2019-20 season, impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, had the regular season stretch from late October 2019 until mid-August 2020. Harden’s explosive scoring was a key highlight during this unique year, as he was one of only three players to average over 30 points per game, joining Bradley Beal and Damian Lillard.

Harden recorded five games with at least 50 points throughout the season, including 59 points against the Washington Wizards, 55 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and 54 points against the Orlando Magic. He also scored 50 points in a close double-overtime loss against the San Antonio Spurs, underscoring his capability to deliver under pressure.

In total, he achieved 40 or more points in 21 games and surpassed 30 points in 44 of his 68 appearances, showcasing his consistency and scoring ability. Harden also notched 22 double-doubles and four triple-doubles during the season, with his best triple-double performance being a 44-point, 11-rebound, and 11-assist outing against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 3, 2020.

Harden’s overall numbers were stellar, including averages of 7.5 assists, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game, all while playing nearly 37 minutes per contest. He earned a spot in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game and was named to the All-NBA First Team.

Despite his individual success, the Rockets’ playoff run was cut short. Harden led Houston into the postseason, where they faced the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals. The Rockets lost the series in five games, but Harden’s effort resulted in averages of 29.6 points, 7.7 assists, and 5.6 rebounds in the playoffs.

As the season wrapped up, Harden’s scoring title showcased not only his talent but also his ability to lead a team during challenging circumstances, proving once again why he is considered one of the league’s premier players.
