Harrison Mevis Kicker Los Angeles Rams

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — Kicker Harrison Mevis has joined the Los Angeles Rams practice squad, marking his return to the NFL after a standout season in the United Football League (UFL).

Mevis, known as ‘The Thiccer Kicker’ due to his size of 5 feet 11 inches and 243 pounds, had an impressive run with the Birmingham Stallions, making 20 of 21 field goal attempts. His performance helped the Stallions secure a UFL Conference championship with a 7-3 record.

Originally undrafted in 2024 after playing at the University of Missouri, Mevis found opportunities both in college and the UFL. He set an SEC record with a 61-yard field goal against a ranked team, showcasing his powerful leg.

Before joining the Rams, Mevis had a brief stint with the New York Jets, where he competed with veteran kicker Nick Folk for a starting position but was released earlier this season. The Rams are looking to enhance their kicking game, as current kicker Joshua Karty has struggled, making just 10 of 15 attempts and missing several extra points.

Rams head coach Sean McVay stated the team has been evaluating their kicking operation and seeking improvements. ‘We are looking for solutions,’ he said. The addition of Mevis could provide the competition Karty needs to elevate his performance.

Fans are eager to see if Mevis can replicate his UFL success in the NFL. The Rams organization has a recent history of signing UFL specialists, with kicker Brandon Aubrey becoming one of the league’s top kickers after signing with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Rams announced Mevis’s signing earlier today, hoping he will contribute positively in their upcoming games. ‘We believe he’s capable of making a significant impact,’ McVay added.
