Millonarios Faces Envigado in Critical Match for Playoff Hopes
San Pablo, Brazil
Millonarios is set to face Envigado on Friday, November 7, at 3:30 PM at the Polideportivo Sur stadium for the 19th round of the Liga BetPlay 2025-II. This match is crucial for Millonarios, who are looking to end a difficult season with a win and keep alive their slim hopes of making the playoffs.
Envigado, already relegated for the next season, enters the match on a three-game losing streak. The team is struggling and currently sits second to last in the standings. Millonarios, on the other hand, has only 22 points and needs a victory along with favorable results in other matches to have a chance at qualifying.
Defender Jorge Arias expressed the frustration felt by the team, stating, “Tristeza total, un fracaso más para nosotros, no queríamos terminar así” (Total sadness, another failure for us, we did not want to finish like this). Arias admitted that the team’s inconsistent decisions throughout the semester led to their current situation.
In the previous leg, Millonarios managed a narrow 1-0 victory against Envigado back on May 16, thanks to a goal by Helibelton Palacios. Coach Hernán Torres remains hopeful, though the task ahead appears daunting.
Both teams have named their line-ups for this crucial encounter. Envigado will feature Andrés Tovar in goal, supported by Neymar Uribe, Jhon Gamboa, Santiago Noreña, and Juan Felipe Holguín on defense. Midfielders Didier Dawson, Edison López, and Julián Palacios will look to control the game, while Frey Berrío, Luis Ángel Díaz, and Bayron Garcés lead the attack.
Millonarios will take the field with Diego Novoa as goalkeeper, backed by Samuel Martín, Alex Moreno, Jorge Arias, and Danovis Banguero in defense. The midfield will consist of Dewar Victoria, Stiven Vega, and David Mackalister Silva, while forwards Edwin Mosquera, Beckham David Castro, and Santiago Giordana look to score.
The match will be broadcast live on WIN, and fans can also follow minute-by-minute updates via the Win Play platform.
As the league nears its end, the fate of both teams hangs in the balance. Millonarios needs a miracle, and as they prepare to face a familiar rival, all eyes will be on the Polideportivo Sur this Friday afternoon.
