Landon Jackson Buffalo Bills Injury Update

ORCHARD PARK, New York — With injuries stacking up, rookie defensive end Landon Jackson may finally get his chance to prove himself in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins. The Buffalo Bills are dealing with multiple injuries on their defensive line, including the loss of Michael Hoecht, who tore his Achilles during Week 8 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Jackson, a third-round draft pick from Arkansas, has had a quiet season thus far. He has only played in two games, totaling 28 defensive snaps. However, his opportunity may come when the Bills face the Dolphins on November 9 at 1 p.m. ET.

Head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged the impact of Hoecht’s injury, stating, “It’s a big loss. I thought he gave us a certain level of toughness.” McDermott highlighted Jackson’s need to step up as one of the only healthy edge rushers available.

Meanwhile, defensive ends Joey Bosa and A.J. Epenesa are also questionable for Sunday’s game due to wrist and concussion issues, respectively. Bosa returned to practice on Thursday, but Epenesa missed again, adding urgency to Jackson’s potential role.

Jackson himself expressed readiness, saying, “I just got to be mentally and physically prepared, take advantage of the opportunity.” This could be a turning point for Jackson, who has faced criticism for his lack of impact so far this season.

He has been regarded as a player with potential, having performed well in college and at the NFL Combine, but has not yet found his footing with the Bills. Comparisons have been made to other rookies who took time to develop, like running back James Cook III and linebacker Terrell Bernard.

In addition to Jackson, the Bills are navigating other defensive challenges. Starting nickel cornerback Taron Johnson has missed two games this season due to injury, prompting Cam Lewis to step up in his absence.

As Buffalo prepares to face Miami, Jackson may finally have the chance to prove his worth as they look to bolster a depleted defense.
