Barcelona’s Hansi Flick Addresses Team’s Tactical Flaws Before Celta Vigo Match
Barcelona, Spain
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has acknowledged his team still has tactical issues to resolve ahead of their upcoming match against Celta Vigo. The German coach highlighted that certain weaknesses within the squad need urgent attention, especially on the left side where Alejandro Balde and Marcus Rashford play.
Flick clarified that his comments were not criticisms of the players’ performances. In fact, Rashford has emerged as one of Barcelona’s key attacking players this season. However, he noted that the overall tactical coordination of the team was inconsistent, particularly during pressing situations.
Barcelona’s defense has shown vulnerabilities, as witnessed in their recent match against Club Brugge. The first goal came when Balde failed to mark Carlos Forbs, allowing him to provide a critical assist for Niccolo Tresoldi. Flick mentioned that Rashford’s limited defensive contribution has also left the backline exposed.
“We have to work on our tactical awareness, especially on the left side,” Flick said. His coaching staff has been examining defensive play closely in preparation for the game against Celta Vigo.
The absence of Raphinha, sidelined for over a month, worsens their situation. Raphinha’s energy and work rate were vital for maintaining the team’s shape. Last season, he scored 34 goals while actively pressing opponents.
Without him, Barcelona’s attacking transitions have struggled, and the forward line appears less cohesive. “Restoring balance on the left flank will be crucial until Raphinha returns,” Flick added.
