BUFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills signed veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman to their practice squad on Monday. This addition comes as the team looks to adapt after a tough season.

The Bills’ updated practice squad now includes QB Shane Buechele, RB Jr., WR Stephen Gosnell, TE Keleki Latu, OL Travis Clayton, and several other players, including Hardman.

Hardman, 27, was a second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019. He recently finished his four-year, $5 million rookie contract with the Chiefs. After testing the market as an unrestricted free agent in 2023, he signed with the New York Jets for one year at $4 million. The Jets later traded Hardman back to the Chiefs.

In 2024, Hardman appeared in 12 games for the Chiefs, catching 12 passes for 90 yards and contributing with 25 returns for 335 yards. Despite his experience, some fans have mixed feelings about the signing.

Head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have faced criticism for not adding more weapons to the passing game following a disappointing performance against the Miami Dolphins. The Bills currently sit at 6-3, trailing the New England Patriots, who are 8-2 and looking to take the AFC East crown.

Hardman, who is still relatively young and brings valuable experience, has the potential to add depth to Buffalo’s receiver lineup.

The Bills will need to make additional roster moves to stay within league limits following Hardman’s signing.
