Bihar Assembly Election Results: NDA Leads, Tej Pratap Yadav Trails

Patna, India — Counting for the Bihar Assembly elections began early Friday morning, November 14, 2025. Preliminary results show the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leading in over 190 of the 243 seats, significantly ahead of the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB).

As of 7:00 AM IST, the NDA was reported to have leads in 191 constituencies, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead in 84 and Janata Dal (United) securing 77. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), part of the NDA, is leading in 22 seats.

The Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav‘s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is ahead in approximately 36 seats, with RJD leading in 22 constituencies. The Congress party is currently leading in only 5. Key battles are being watched closely, including Raghopur, where Tejashwi Yadav faces a difficult challenge against BJP candidate Satish Kumar.

Another significant contest is in Mahua, where Tej Pratap Yadav, heading the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), is trailing substantially. He has received about 2,121 votes so far, while Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh leads with nearly 13,000 votes.

The NDA’s strong performance has drawn contrasts with earlier predictions, where exit polls suggested a closely contested race. Early updates indicated a sweeping lead for the NDA and highlighted the underperformance of the opposition coalition, the Mahagathbandhan.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for electoral losses, stating, “Another election, another defeat! If there were awards for electoral consistency, he’d sweep them all,” emphasizing the apparent challenges facing the opposition.

Live results will continue to pour in throughout the day, as voters await the final outcome to determine who will govern Bihar for the next term. The Election Commission of India has stated that a total of 4,372 counting tables have been set up to facilitate the process.
