South Bend, IN – Notre Dame junior running back, Love, is one of the most prolific players in college football. The St. Louis native has made a name for himself at Notre Dame, leading the Fighting Irish to a 31-7 record and an appearance in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Game over the past three seasons.

In a recent interview on the ‘Podcast Show’ ahead of Saturday’s high-stakes match against No. 22 Pittsburgh, Love opened up about his recruitment journey and decision to choose Notre Dame over Alabama. “I liked Alabama when I went there,” Love said. “I had a great visit and I liked all the coaches. I love coach Saban. I got to sit down and talk with him over some food. He was a great coach and is a great person in general, too.”

However, Love ultimately felt that Tuscaloosa wasn’t the right fit for him. “Alabama just wasn’t the place for me,” he explained. “The town I thought was really cool, great place to be. Just wasn’t for me. Notre Dame was a better choice for me.”

Since joining the Fighting Irish, Love has accumulated 2,498 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns, ranking eighth and fifth in program history, respectively. His standout moment came with a 98-yard rushing touchdown in last season’s College Football Playoff win.

After a rocky start to the current season with two losses, Notre Dame has bounced back, winning seven straight games to improve to 7-2. With three crucial games remaining, including a matchup against No. 22 Pittsburgh, Love’s performance will be vital in the team’s quest for a second consecutive appearance in the CFP.

This season, Love has already gained 988 rushing yards and scored 13 touchdowns, asserting his role as a key player in Notre Dame’s bid for its first National Championship since 1988.
