Tampa Bay Lightning Host Military Appreciation Night vs. Vancouver Canucks
TAMPA, FL – The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday, November 16, at 5 p.m. ET at Benchmark International Arena. This game marks Tampa Bay’s second match in as many days after playing against the Florida Panthers on Saturday.
The Lightning, currently holding a 9-6-2 record this season, aim to continue their momentum from a 3-1 victory over the Panthers. Defenseman Emil Lilleberg scored first, while forward Jack Finley‘s breakaway goal marked his first in the NHL. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 23 saves during the match, further boosting his career performance against Vancouver, where he is 10-3-0 with a .924 save percentage.
Sunday’s game is particularly significant as it is the team’s annual Military Appreciation Night, dedicated to honoring members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The event will feature a ceremonial puck drop by military leaders, a presentation of colors, and a performance of the National Anthem by a retired Air Force technical sergeant. The Lightning will also donate $10,000 to Operation Healing Forces during the event.
Tampa Bay has enjoyed a favorable history against Vancouver, boasting a 22-18-5 overall record and winning both matches in the previous season series. Key players to watch include Steven Stamkos, the franchise’s top scorer against Vancouver, and Brayden Point, who excelled in last season’s games with six points total.
Before the puck drops, fans are encouraged to participate in various pre-game activities, including checking out the military-themed merchandise at the Tampa Bay Sports Team Store.
