Red Wings Rangers Game November 2025

NEW YORK — The Detroit Red Wings defeated the New York Rangers 2-1 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, extending their point streak to three games.

Detroit’s Lucas Raymond scored the game-winning goal with 3:47 left in the third period. Raymond maneuvered the puck around the net before firing it into the top corner past Rangers goalie Jonathan Quick, marking his fifth goal in three games.

“It was a great play by Lucas,” said Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde. “He showed incredible skill and determination to get that shot off.”

The Red Wings took the lead early with a power-play goal from Alex DeBrincat at 9:30 of the second period. DeBrincat capitalized on a rebound after Quick initially blocked a shot from Raymond.

Rangers’ Mika Zibanejad equalized with a power-play goal at 11:59 of the second period. Zibanejad was in the right place to score from behind the left circle after a blocked shot from his teammate Artemi Panarin.

Despite losing, Quick had a standout performance, making 40 saves. “You can’t fault him; he kept us in the game,” said Rangers assistant coach David Quinn, who filled in for head coach Mike Sullivan, absent due to personal reasons.

The Rangers struggled offensively, managing only 19 shots on goal compared to Detroit’s 42. “We need to be better in that area,” Zibanejad acknowledged. “We can’t rely on Quick every night.”

This loss marked the Rangers’ first defeat after a three-game winning streak and left them with a disappointing 1-7-1 record at home this season. They will face the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday as they embark on a three-game road trip.
