Ohio State Dominates UCLA in Lopsided Showdown
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State overpowered UCLA on Saturday, winning decisively 48-10 in a crucial college football matchup.
UCLA entered the game with backup quarterback Luke Duncan, who was starting for the first time due to concussion symptoms sidelining star quarterback Nico Iamaleava. Duncan struggled under pressure, facing one of the top-ranked defenses in the nation.
The Buckeyes took an early lead, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive with a one-yard rush from running back Bo Jackson. Ohio State continued to build momentum, adding two more touchdowns before halftime, leading 27-0.
As the second half commenced, Ohio State kicked off with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown from Lorenzo Styles Jr., further extending their lead. The Buckeyes maintained strong offensive performances throughout the game, with Julian Sayin connecting with Brandon Inniss for a touchdown in the second quarter.
UCLA managed to score a touchdown late in the third quarter with a pass from Duncan to Kwazi Gilmer, but the Buckeyes responded swiftly to shut down any momentum.
Head coach Ryan Day praised his team’s execution and focus. “We controlled the game from start to finish, and our players performed well in all three phases,” he said after the game.
The victory solidified Ohio State’s position as a strong contender for the playoffs, improving their record to 10-0. UCLA, struggling without their starting quarterback, fell to 5-6 on the season.
Ohio State will host Rutgers next week for Senior Day, which Day remarked would be an opportunity to honor the team’s veterans. The situation regarding Iamaleava’s injury remains a concern for UCLA as they look to rebound in their final games.
