CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Quincy Wilson, an Olympic gold medalist and Under-18 world record holder, has officially committed to the University of Maryland‘s track and field program. His announcement came on Monday night during a live stream on the Citius Mag YouTube Channel.

Wilson, who began his high school career at Bullis School, rose to prominence after becoming the youngest male U.S. track and field Olympian at the age of 16 during the Paris 2024 Olympics. He finished sixth at the Olympic Trials in the 400 meters and became a member of the 4×400 meter relay team that won gold.

Prior to his commitment, Wilson weighed options from several top programs, including Texas A&M, South Carolina, USC, and UCLA. He revealed his decision by cutting into a cake at the announcement event.

“Quincy is a generational athlete who has the upside to continue to thrive at the top of our sport,” said Maryland head coach Andrew Valmon, who is also a two-time Olympian. Valmon emphasized that Wilson’s support system at Maryland in his home state is unmatched.

Wilson’s track career includes remarkable achievements, such as breaking the U18 world record in the 400 meters with a time of 44.10 seconds at the Ed Murphey Classic in July 2025. He currently holds the four fastest 400 meter times in high school history for outdoor events, as well as the indoor national record at 45.66 seconds.

The University of Maryland track and field team faced challenges last season, finishing without points at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Wilson’s exceptional talent is expected to elevate the team’s performance significantly as they aim to become contenders on the national stage.

Additionally, Wilson has balanced his track career with football, where he helped Bullis win the Interstate Athletic Conference title earlier this month.

With the excitement surrounding Wilson’s future, fans can follow the track and field season streaming on FloTrack, where event footage will be archived for subscribers.
