Arizona State Vs Texas Basketball November 24

TEMPE, Hawaii — The Arizona State Sun Devils (4-1) are set to take on the Texas Longhorns (4-1) in the opening round of the 2025 Southwest Maui Invitational on November 24 at 9:30 p.m. MST at the Lahaina Civic Center.

This marks Arizona State’s first appearance in the Maui Invitational since 2007, and they face a familiar opponent in Texas, which recently moved from the SEC. Both teams are entering the match with strong early season performances, as the Sun Devils are looking for a marquee win in this non-conference tournament.

The matchup will be the sixth meeting between Arizona State and Texas, with the Longhorns holding a 4-1 record against the Sun Devils. Their last encounter dates back to the 2014 NCAA Tournament, where ASU fell to Texas.

Arizona State’s head coach Bobby Hurley and Texas’s Sean Miller, who have faced each other numerous times during their coaching careers, will be leading their teams with the aim of advancing in this prestigious tournament.

<p“It’s an opportunity for us to showcase what we can do against a top program,” said Hurley about the tournament. “We’ve been working hard and are ready for the challenge,” he added.

<pThe Sun Devils are coming off a strong victory over Hawai'i, where they came from behind to win 83-76. Guards Maurice Odum and Bryce Ford shined in that match, contributing significantly to the offensive effort. Odum, a transfer from Pepperdine, has been pivotal this season, averaging 14.8 points and 7.2 assists per game.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns are looking to continue their winning streak after a season-opening loss to Duke. They have since won four consecutive games against less formidable opponents. Texas has been effective at limiting turnovers, averaging just 9.0 per game.

<pASU and Texas will be battling not only for tournament advancement but also for head-to-head bragging rights, which adds an extra layer of excitement to this highly anticipated match.

The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, with Kanoa Leahey and Sean Farnham providing commentary.
