Giants Release Kicker Jude McAtamney Amid Roster Changes
East Rutherford, NJ — The New York Giants have terminated the contract of placekicker Jude McAtamney from their practice squad, marking the end of his brief tenure with the team. McAtamney’s release comes after he missed three extra points over two weeks while filling in for injured kicker Graham Gano earlier this season.
After Gano returned from a groin injury, McAtamney was released but later signed to the practice squad. However, with Gano being placed on injured reserve due to a herniated disc in his neck, the Giants chose to promote veteran kicker Younghoe Koo instead of McAtamney.
The Giants also added rookie placekicker Ben Sauls to their practice squad, making McAtamney’s spot unnecessary. To fill the vacancy left by McAtamney, the team has signed tight end Maxamilian Mang, who brings an international exemption that allows the Giants to keep a 17th player on their 16-man practice squad.
Maxamilian Mang, at 6 feet 6 inches and 263 pounds, played college football at Syracuse. A native of Potsdam, Germany, he caught only nine passes in 63 games at Syracuse and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts after the 2025 NFL Draft. Mang was released from the Colts’ practice squad just last week.
The Giants are currently dealing with multiple injuries throughout their roster, making these adjustments essential as they move forward in the season.
