Aaron Judge Home Run Celebration

New York, NY — Yankees slugger Aaron Judge achieved a significant milestone on August 25, 2024, by hitting his 50th home run of the season. This remarkable feat took place in the first inning of a game against the Colorado Rockies.

Judge connected with a 0-2 changeup from Rockies pitcher Austin Gomber, sending the ball into the visiting bullpen in left-center, giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead. This home run marked Judge’s 18th of the season hit during the first inning, tying the major league record previously set by Alex Rodriguez in 2001.

With this achievement, Judge joins an elite group of players, including Alex Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, and Babe Ruth, as the only players in major league history to record three seasons with 50 or more home runs. Furthermore, he became the first player to accomplish three 50-homer seasons within the first nine years of his career.

Aaron Judge expressed gratitude for his achievement, stating, “A great accomplishment but there’s still more to be done.” He emphasized the collective goal of the team, indicating a focus on their mission ahead.

Judge previously reached the 50-home run milestone in the 129th game of the season against the Anaheim Angels. During the recent game, he also hit his 51st home run in the seventh inning against rookie pitcher Jeff Criswell, marking his fifth home run in this season alone.

This season, Judge shows remarkable power with seven homers in his last six games and a total of 47 home runs in the past 102 games. His current pace suggests he may reach 63 homers by the end of the season.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Judge’s performance, remarking on his consistent desire to improve and contribute to the team’s success. Judge’s recent achievements continue to capture the attention of fans and analysts alike.
