Amidst ongoing speculation about the dismissal of New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, star quarterback Aaron Rodgers has firmly denied any involvement in the decision. Rodgers, who joined the Jets from the Green Bay Packers, stated, “It’s patently false” regarding rumors that he influenced the firing of Saleh.

Saleh’s tenure with the Jets ended after a 2-3 start to the season, following a narrow 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos. The decision came shortly after he reassigned play-calling duties from offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett, closely linked with Rodgers from their successful tenure at Green Bay, remained with the Jets despite the change.

Jet’s owner Woody Johnson confirmed that the decision was solely his, aiming to distance Rodgers from the event. However, ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith expressed skepticism, suggesting Rodgers might not have asked for Saleh’s removal but was undoubtedly aware of the team’s internal dynamics.

Rodgers, 40, admitted to being unsatisfied with his performance, confessing, “If I play better, this doesn’t happen.” Reflecting on the situation, he accepted it as a “reset for everybody,” emphasizing accountability within the team.

The organization promoted defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich to interim head coach, and quarterbacks coach Todd Downing will now lead the offense. Despite the changes, Rodgers continues to support Hackett, praising his character and expressing his commitment to the team’s success moving forward.

Rodgers’ relationship with Hackett dates back to their time in Green Bay, where his career thrived, earning him MVP awards in 2020 and 2021. “I love Nathaniel,” Rodgers commented, underscoring their enduring friendship and mutual professional support.

The Jets face the Buffalo Bills on Monday night with hopes of regaining momentum and potentially capturing first place in the division. As the team navigates these internal changes, all eyes remain on Rodgers and his pivotal role within the squad.
