The Adrian District Library is set to host a special theatrical event titled “In the Shadow of the Raven” on Sunday, October 6, from 3 to 4 p.m. Broadway and film veteran Duffy Hudson will bring his expertise and admiration for the legendary American writer Edgar Allan Poe to life in this distinctive one-man play, as stated in a press release by the library, located at 143 E. Maumee Street.

The performance will commence with the character of Poe, known for his impactful poetry and mysterious short stories, rising from the setting of his own enigmatic death. As the play progresses, Poe begins to reconstruct the impactful and often dark events of his life. The library describes the play as a fusion of biographical content and dramatic interpretations of Poe’s famous works, including “Annabel Lee,” “The Raven,” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.”

“Using a combination of biographical information and the dramatic interpretation of Poe’s literature, Hudson provides a unique, in-depth theatrical experience of the life and works of one of America’s best-known and enigmatic personalities,” the library stated.

The event is scheduled to take place in the community room of the library in downtown Adrian. Attendees are advised that doors will open at 2:45 p.m. The event is free to the public and does not require registration.
