Amidst the aftermath of the Sydney Swans‘ substantial grand final defeat to Brisbane, Sydney veteran Luke Parker is reportedly on the brink of joining a rival Victorian club. The development follows the Swans’ 10-goal loss in the grand final, where Parker played a significant role. According to a report by Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph, Parker is expected to join North Melbourne on a multi-year contract. Ralph stated, “It is my expectation that this is the last of the 293 games Luke Parker will play for Sydney; I think he’s Arden Street bound.” This potential move comes after the 31-year-old midfielder endured a challenging season, highlighted by injuries and suspensions but demonstrated his resilience in the final match of the season.

In other player movement news, Deven Robertson, a midfielder for Brisbane, is reportedly seeking a fresh start back in Western Australia. His quest for a new opportunity comes as Brisbane anticipates the introduction of new talent, which could further limit Robertson’s playing opportunities. Ralph commented on the situation, “He’s not in the side today; I think he’s going to get squeezed further down the pecking order.” The speculation involves West Coast as a possible destination for Robertson, although they are reportedly hesitant to trade early draft picks for him.

The future of Richmond players Liam Baker and Jack Graham remains in limbo as they await the West Coast Eagles’ decision on a new head coach. Both players have been linked to potential moves to the Eagles, but according to Fox Footy reporter David Zita, they are “keeping their powder dry” until a coach is appointed. The Eagles’ delay in making this decision has left Baker and Graham’s situations unresolved, though the resolution is expected soon.

Meanwhile, Collingwood‘s interest in Jake Stringer has reportedly cooled following “deep background checks” into the player. Stringer, who is currently contracted with Essendon, has been the subject of trade rumors amid Essendon’s decision not to offer a multi-year contract extension. Ralph reported that despite Collingwood’s initial interest, concerns regarding the company Stringer keeps have prompted the team to retract their interest.

Additionally, St Kilda is reportedly adopting a firm stance in trade discussions with the Western Bulldogs over Jack Macrae. The Saints have shown interest in acquiring the wantaway midfielder but are reluctant to part with their Pick 43, believing this selection is too valuable. The Bulldogs, who are looking to offload salary restrictions, have not reached an agreement with the Saints as negotiations continue.
