Ahmed Musa scored both goals to lead Kano Pillars to a 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday five encounter on Sunday. The match took place at the home ground of Kano Pillars, with Musa opening the scoring just five minutes into the game.

The forward, who has been a significant figure in Nigerian football, doubled the advantage for the home team six minutes after the break, securing a much-needed victory. This result marked Sai Masu Gida’s first win in four league outings, providing a boost in their ongoing league campaign.

In a separate NPFL fixture, Rivers United managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Akwa United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. Stephen Manyo gave the hosts the lead at the 32-minute mark, scoring his second goal of the season.

Shortly after the break, Akwa United’s Friday Apollos found the net to equalize the score. However, Rivers United regained the lead and ultimately the victory after Ndifreke Effiong scored five minutes from full-time, ensuring the home side came away with the win.
