Acclaimed film director Alfonso Cuarón, known for his cinematic masterpieces such as “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” “Children of Men,” and “Gravity,” has ventured into television with his new limited series, “Disclaimer.” This seven-episode psychological thriller premiered on Apple TV+ on Friday, October 11, 2024, with the first two episodes available immediately, followed by new episodes every Friday through November 15, 2024.

“Disclaimer” is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Renée Knight and stars two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, a renowned journalist whose life is turned upside down when she receives a novel from an unknown author that exposes her darkest secrets. The series also features an impressive cast, including Sacha Baron Cohen, Kevin Kline, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, Hoyeon, and Indira Varma.

The series marks Cuarón’s first foray into TV storytelling, and it has already generated significant buzz. The plot delves into themes of identity, privacy, and the blurred lines between reality and fiction, all of which are central to Cuarón’s direction and the performances of the cast. The show’s premiere was highlighted at the London Film Festival, further underscoring its anticipation and critical interest.

In addition to “Disclaimer,” Cuarón is also involved in other upcoming projects, including “An Almost Christmas Story,” a holiday short film set to premiere on Disney+ on November 15. This film is part of Cuarón’s holiday shorts collection for Disney+, following his previous Oscar-nominated shorts “Le Pupille” and “The Shepherd”.
