Amanda Anisimova Wins China Open With Thrilling Comeback Over Linda Noskova

Beijing, China – Amanda Anisimova captured her first China Open title, defeating Czech player Linda Nosková 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 in the final on Sunday. This victory marked her second WTA 1000 title of the season and added to an impressive year for the American.
Anisimova dominated the first set, winning it in just 23 minutes while dropping only 12 points. However, Nosková, competing in her first WTA 1000 event, regrouped in the second set, breaking Anisimova’s serve and leveling the match.
“It’s been quite a few weeks for me,” Anisimova said. “I can take a lot of positives and have made a lot of progress.”
As the deciding set began, both players faced pressure, but Anisimova quickly took a 4-2 lead after cutting down on her unforced errors. She clinched the match with a powerful backhand winner, collapsing to the ground in celebration.
This win comes after a season filled with highs and lows for Anisimova. She faced tough competition in previous tournaments, including finals losses to Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka and had to withdraw from the Korean Open due to an ankle injury.
“To get the win today was really special,” Anisimova added during the trophy presentation. She also praised her opponent, saying, “Linda, I want to congratulate you. You’ve been playing amazing.”
Nosková reflected on the match, acknowledging Anisimova’s skill. “It’s definitely her powerful serve that she starts the rally with,” she said. “Sometimes, it’s just hard to come up with any plan against such fast groundstrokes.”
Despite the defeat, Nosková’s performance throughout the tournament indicated her bright future in tennis, as she climbs to a career-best No. 17 in the world rankings.
The China Open marked a significant moment for Anisimova, who became only the third American to win the women’s singles title at this event, joining the ranks of Serena Williams and Coco Gauff. Her next challenge awaits in Wuhan for the final WTA 1000 event of the season.
