Amon-Ra St. Brown Honors His German Heritage with Helmet Decal

Detroit, MI — Amon-Ra St. Brown, the star wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, sports a German flag decal on his helmet this season, raising questions about his heritage among fans. St. Brown, originally from Anaheim Hills, California, is half German, a connection he proudly acknowledges.
In a recent episode of “Inside the Den,” St. Brown explained, “My mom is from Germany, so I’m half German.” His mother, Miriam Brown, hails from Leverkusen, Germany, and St. Brown is also a German citizen. He grew up visiting Germany every summer and continues to travel there during the offseason to connect with his mother’s family and conduct a football camp.
“It’s a lot of fun to be out there,” St. Brown said. “I know the area — I’m familiar with the people, the culture, and everything.” His strong ties to Germany also include his father, John Brown, who met Miriam at a fitness event in Germany in 1989. Together, they raised three sons: Amon-Ra, Equanimeous, and Osiris, all of whom are German citizens.
John Brown shared his observations on his sons’ experiences in Germany, stating, “It was nice to have them come here because it’s part of their culture. I never thought in my wildest dreams that my kids would be in Germany, talking German, playing with their in-laws.” He emphasized the joy of watching his children embrace their heritage.
The episode of “Inside the Den” features St. Brown visiting his grandparents’ house, his former kindergarten, and the soccer club he once played for, along with interactions with locals and attending a soccer match.
The episode highlights the significance of St. Brown’s connection to Germany, not just through the flag on his helmet but also through his upbringing and the memories he cherishes.
