San Francisco, Calif. — Apple has re-released the iOS 18.3 software update specifically for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Unlike the initial release, this new version requires a manual installation process via a Mac or Windows computer, bypassing the usual over-the-air update method.
The update, with build number 22D64, addresses several issues, including a bug where the calculator app repeats the last operation and a problem with the keyboard disappearing during Siri requests. It also resolves an issue where audio playback continues after closing Apple Music. The update weighs 8.25GB and takes around 10 minutes to install.
Aaron Zollo of the Zollotech YouTube channel confirmed that the update must be sideloaded. “If you want to install it, you have to use a Mac or Windows computer, plug in your device, and install it through Finder,” Zollo explained.
Users who updated their iPhone 11 via the standard Settings app received the earlier build (22D63) instead of the new version. When tested, an iPhone 11 Pro Max running the latest build refused to update to 22D64, confirming the exclusivity of this release for the iPhone 11 series.
While Apple hasn’t provided an official reason for this targeted update, user reports suggest potential issues with Safari and Mail. The company recommends monitoring battery performance for a few days after installation to allow for calibration.
This update follows the initial iOS 18.3 release on Jan. 27, which was available for all iPhones from the XS model onward. The new version appears to address model-specific issues, reinforcing Apple’s commitment to supporting older devices.
iPhone 11 users experiencing battery life or touch responsiveness issues are encouraged to install the update. Apple is expected to focus on iOS 18.4 next, which may reintroduce support for other iPhone models and include additional features.
