Apple TV Secures Exclusive Formula 1 Rights in U.S. Starting 2026

AUSTIN, Texas — Apple has officially signed a five-year deal to become the exclusive broadcaster of Formula 1 in the United States starting in 2026. The announcement came on Friday and is believed to be worth approximately $160 million per year.
The partnership follows the success of Apple’s film, “F1 The Movie,” which was produced in collaboration with Formula 1 and has become the highest-grossing sports movie of all time.
Apple TV will provide coverage of all Formula 1 events, including practice sessions, qualifying, and Grand Prix races. Certain races and all practice sessions will be available for free on the Apple TV app. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, expressed excitement over the deal, stating, “We’re thrilled to expand our relationship with Formula 1 and offer Apple TV subscribers in the U.S. front-row access to one of the most exciting and fastest-growing sports on the planet.”
Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali echoed Cue’s sentiments, highlighting the partnership’s goal of expanding F1’s reach in the U.S. He emphasized the shared vision to captivate both existing and new fans through live broadcasts and engaging content.
ESPN, which began covering Formula 1 in 2018, will complete its current contract this year. In a statement, ESPN expressed pride in their collaboration with Formula 1 and looked forward to a strong finish to the season.
The 2025 Global F1 Fan Survey revealed that 47% of new U.S. Formula 1 fans are aged 18-24, with a significant portion being female. This data underscores the potential for further audience growth through Apple’s innovative platforms.
Further details about production and enhancements for F1 fans will be disclosed in the coming months, with Apple aiming to create a year-round experience that engages viewers long after the races end.
