The Australia vs Pakistan one-day international (ODI) series kicked off on Monday, November 4, at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne. This marks Pakistan’s first ODI series since their group stage exit from the 2023 World Cup in India.

Pakistan, under the new captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan, who recently took over from Babar Azam, is looking to start a new chapter in white-ball cricket. The Pakistani squad includes notable players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf. New faces in the squad include Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, and Irfan Khan, with Kamran Ghulam earning an ODI call-up after impressive performances in red-ball cricket.

Australia, led by captain Pat Cummins, is coming off a 3-2 series win over England and is looking to continue their momentum. The Australian team features a strong lineup including Steve Smith, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc. Notably, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head are absent due to paternity leave, with Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk taking on the opening roles.

The match began at 9:00 AM IST (2:30 PM local time and 3:30 AM GMT) and is being telecast live on the Star Sports Network in India. The match can also be streamed live on the Disney+ Hotstar app and website.

The series will continue with the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval on November 8 and the third ODI at the Perth Stadium on November 10.
