Australia Wins Toss, Chooses to Bowl Against India in Adelaide ODI
Adelaide, Australia — Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first in the second ODI against India at Adelaide Oval on October 23, 2025. India aims to level the series after losing the first match in Perth.
The Indian team has opted for an unchanged lineup, which has drawn criticism from Congress MP Shashi Tharoor regarding the omission of spinner Kuldeep Yadav. India sticks to three fast bowlers and two spinners, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, with Nitish Reddy acting as the seam-bowling all-rounder.
Tharoor expressed his frustration on social media. “So Xavier Bartlett took just four balls to show the Indian selectors the idiocy of their decision to leave out the most potent match-winner in their squad, @imkuldeep18, in favor of a journeyman pacer like Rana. It was wrong to omit Kuldeep in England and it is absurd not to pick him in Adelaide. Awful!” he wrote.
In contrast, Australia made three changes, bringing back wicketkeeper Alex Carey and leg-spinner Adam Zampa, along with Bartlett. They have dropped Josh Philippe, Matt Kuhnemann, and Nathan Ellis as they aim to clinch the series with a win.
The pitch at Adelaide Oval is known to favor batsmen, sharing similarities with conditions found in the subcontinent, which may benefit India. After their disappointing performance in Perth, the team is eager to turn the tide before heading to Sydney for the final match.
As the teams face off, Australia looks to secure the series victory while India fights to keep their hopes alive.
