Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced his final squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan.

The team will begin their AFCON campaign with a home match against Uganda at Orlando Stadium on Friday, 06 September 2024, at 6 PM. Following this, they will travel to South Sudan for their second group match on Tuesday, 10 September 2024.

<p Broos confirmed that the team would be without their captain and goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, who is currently recovering from an injury. Broos expressed that Williams’ absence presents a significant challenge for the team.

“If you have a guy like Ronwen who will not be with us in the two games, that is a big problem. He is not just a good goalkeeper, he is also a good captain,” Broos stated.

The coach has selected three goalkeepers: Ricardo Goss from SuperSport United, Veli Mothwa from AmaZulu, and Sipho Chaine from Orlando Pirates. A decision on who will start and who will serve as captain will be made in the days leading up to the matches.

Tickets for the opening qualifier against Uganda have been made available at various outlets. SAFA President Dr. Danny Jordaan and CEO Lydia Monyepao are encouraging fans to come out to support the team.

Gates for the match will open at 3 PM, and ticket prices are set at R30 for children, R60 for adults, and R140 for a family ticket that accommodates two adults and two children.

The two top finishers in this qualifying round will secure a spot in the tournament, which will be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.
