Barcelona Secures Lamine Yamal’s Contract Until 2031

Barcelona, Spain — FC Barcelona has finalized a contract extension for 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal, securing his services until June 2031. The decision followed a productive meeting between club president Joan Laporta and Yamal’s agent, Jorge Mendes, on Monday.
Yamal’s current contract was set to expire in 2026, but both parties have been negotiating terms for several months. The young talent is eager to continue his journey with Barça, having already made over 100 first team appearances.
During the negotiations, Yamal expressed his commitment to the club publicly, solidifying his place in one of football’s elite teams. With the new contract, Yamal will receive a significant salary increase that reflects his growing importance in coach Hansi Flick‘s lineup.
The revised terms include various incentives and bonuses, including one linked to winning the Ballon d’Or, which he is already being touted for. This season, Yamal has made a remarkable impact, scoring 18 goals and providing 25 assists across all competitions.
Laporta emphasized that Yamal’s contract epitomizes the club’s long-term vision. The winger first joined the club’s youth academy, La Masia, at age seven and made his debut for the senior team at just 15.
Yamal’s role on the field has been pivotal, helping Barcelona clinch a domestic treble this season, which includes La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Supercopa. His synergy with teammates, especially defender Jules Kounde, has proven crucial for the team’s success.
Beyond club achievements, Yamal has also starred for Spain, contributing to their European Championship victory last summer. He has garnered accolades like the Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy award, recognizing his exceptional performances.
Following the contract signing on Tuesday, the young player aims to build on his record-breaking feats and continue to be a defining player for FC Barcelona in the years to come.
