LAKE FOREST, Ill. — In a thrilling finish at Soldier Field, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams demonstrated his knack for late-game heroics during a 24-20 win against the New York Giants on Sunday.

With just over six minutes to go and his team trailing by 10 points, Williams took control, leading two touchdown drives that showcased his ability to rise to the occasion. In stark contrast to last season, when he faced a league-high 68 sacks as a rookie, Williams has shown significant improvement, taking advantage of a revamped offensive line.

“It’s time to go make a play,” Williams said, reflecting on a crucial decision to stay in bounds during a critical drive, which allowed him to score a touchdown and cut the deficit. “We needed that shot in the arm to win the game.”

Williams completed 55.6% of his passes for 220 yards and demonstrated his mobility with 63 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Bears offense has ranked third in the NFL in yards per game, a significant shift from last season’s struggles.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson praised Williams for his decision-making and ability to evade the pass rush. “Caleb is able to feel the pressure and make the right moves,” he said. “He simply understands the game and can perform when it matters most.”

The Bears now have four game-winning drives this season, instilling confidence among players and coaches alike. Wide receiver Rome Odunze believes this awareness in critical moments has become a strength for the team. “We all know our roles in two-minute situations,” he said. “That’s the belief we have in each other.”

As the Bears’ offense readies for tough matchups ahead, including divisional rivalries and powerhouse teams like the Eagles and 49ers, Williams’ remarkable development is a promising sign for Chicago. “It builds confidence,” Williams said. “We can come through as a team, regardless of the situation.”
