Blues and Ducks Clash as Key Players Deal with Injuries

ANAHEIM, California — The St. Louis Blues will face the Anaheim Ducks tonight at the Honda Center, marking a crucial game as both teams contend with significant injuries to their rosters.
The match is set to start at 10 p.m. ET, with the Blues entering the game after a dramatic 3-2 shootout victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday. However, they will be without defenseman Colton Parayko, who underwent a procedure on his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks. His absence will be felt as he plays a pivotal role in the team’s defense strategy.
“We have to adapt quickly,” said Blues forward Brayden Schenn. “Colton is a big part of our lineup, but we have depth and need to step up collectively.”
The Blues have rearranged their lineup, with rookies and seasoned players alike ready to take on the challenge. Jake Neighbours, Robert Thomas, and Pavel Buchnevich will lead the front lines, while the defensive pairing includes Cam Fowler and Nick Leddy, a duo that aims to fill the void left by Parayko.
For the Ducks, goalie John Gibson is listed as day-to-day due to a lower-body injury, and they are hopeful for his swift return as they aim to climb the Pacific Division standings. Anaheim currently sits sixth in the division, trailing the Vancouver Canucks by six points for a wild-card playoff spot.
“We’re still in the race, but we know every game counts,” said Ducks forward Troy Terry. “We need to capitalize on our opportunities and stay healthy.”
Despite the challenges, the Ducks bolstered their defensive line by acquiring Oliver Kylington from the New York Islanders ahead of the game. Kylington fills a crucial roster spot left by Brian Dumoulin, who was traded to the New Jersey Devils. This trade occurred just before the game, likely making for an interesting dynamics tonight as Kylington attempts to integrate quickly into the squad.
The Ducks will send out a forward line featuring Frank Vatrano, Ryan Strome, and Troy Terry while hoping for a strong performance from both their power play and penalty kill units. Lukas Dostal is expected to get the nod in goal, backed up by Ville Husso.
The matchup promises to be pivotal for both teams as they push through a tightly contested race in the Pacific Division.
