Body-Shaming Incident Mars Azam Khan’s T20 World Cup Performance
Wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan faced another setback in his tumultuous T20 World Cup journey as a fan allegedly hurled a body-shaming insult at him after his golden duck in Pakistan‘s match against the USA in Dallas.
The incident occurred at the Grand Prairie Stadium after Khan was dismissed lbw by spinner Nosthush Kenjige off the first ball he faced, contributing to Pakistan’s unexpected loss to the USA in a Group A clash.
Following the dismissal, a spectator directed a derogatory comment towards Khan regarding his physique and fitness, aspects that have been under scrutiny due to his recent struggles on the field since the T20I series against England.
In a video capturing the moment, Khan can be seen reacting with anger towards the fan’s remarks before proceeding towards the dressing room, indicating the toll such incidents take on professional athletes.
Pakistan’s defeat to the USA, where the match needed a ‘Super Over’ to determine the winner, saw Nitish Kumar and engineer-turned-bowler Saurabh Netravalkar play pivotal roles for the American team.
Netravalkar’s impressive bowling display restricted Pakistan to 13 runs in the ‘Super Over’, securing a historic victory for the USA team and sparking celebrations following their consecutive wins in Group A.
With the upcoming match against arch-rivals India scheduled for June 12 in New York, the USA team, currently on a five-day break, is basking in the glory of their recent successes in the tournament.
