Boise State Running Back 2024

A standout junior running back has taken the college football world by storm with an impressive start to the 2024 season. Over four games, the athlete has accumulated 845 rushing yards, averaging 10.3 yards per carry. He achieved 190 rushing yards or more in three of these games, with the only exception being Boise State‘s commanding 56-14 victory over FCS Portland State, where he carried the ball just 11 times and did not make an appearance in the second half.

Should he maintain this extraordinary performance, the running back is on course to end the regular season with a staggering 2,535 rushing yards. This potential accomplishment would place him among an elite group of college football players who have surpassed 2,000 regular-season rushing yards in the past decade.

Notable comparisons include Melvin Gordon, who, in 2014, amassed 2,260 yards over 12 regular-season games, scoring 26 touchdowns. His season was marked by unforgettable performances, such as a dominant 59-24 victory over Nebraska, where Gordon raced to 408 rushing yards and four touchdowns at Camp Randall Stadium.

Another standout is Rashaad Penny, who in 2017, accumulated 2,027 regular-season rushing yards while averaging just below 7.5 yards per carry. Despite facing setbacks against Boise State and Fresno State, Penny concluded the season with four consecutive games of 200 rushing yards or more.

In 2014, Tevin Coleman stood out in an otherwise challenging year for his team. The junior attained 2,036 yards despite his team securing just one Big Ten victory that season. Coleman’s consistency was remarkable, managing over 100 yards in nearly every game.

D’Onta Foreman’s 2016 season with Texas similarly showcased individual brilliance amid team struggles. Obtaining 2,028 rushing yards, he often achieved successive games with scores, illustrating both his resilience and capability, even as the Longhorns ended with a 5-7 record and missed out on a bowl game.

As the current season progresses, the Boise State junior running back remains one to watch as he continues his pursuit of joining the prestigious 2,000-yard single-season rushing club.
