Mönchengladbach, Germany – Borussia Mönchengladbach will make changes to its midfield when they face Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday. New coach Eugen Polanski must adapt the lineup after midfielder Robin Hack was ruled out for several weeks due to injury.

Hack suffered a meniscus tear during his last appearance before Polanski took over and is scheduled for surgery. “Robin is a fighter and is already looking ahead. We will support him in his recovery,” said sporting director Roland Virkus.

The recovery process could take six weeks, meaning Hack won’t return until late October. His absence is a significant blow for the team, especially with captain Tim Kleindienst also out due to injury. Additionally, Nathan Ngoumou is sidelined with an Achilles tendon injury.

With limited options available, Polanski might have Giovanni Reyna shift to Hack’s position on the left wing, while he could employ players like Haris Tabakovic or Shuto Machino in various attacking roles. The coach might also experiment with different formations, having previously utilized both four and three-man defenses.

Polanski faces pressure to fill the gaps left by key players and prove the team’s depth as they prepare for a tough match against Leverkusen. The stakes are high, and fans are eager to see how the team adjusts under new leadership.
